Bill Bailey has been a successful painter for most of his life. He studied at Yale and taught there for years, achieving Professor Emeritus status. He has spent summers at a home in Umbria for a long time. Best known for his meticulous still lives of objects, mostly inanimate, such as bottles and vases, he also did a series of eggs in space and on tables. These feature in museums as well as private collections. He has drawn the figure, especially women, and painted figuratively as well. The present drawing is an early work. As such, it is pretty rare to the market.
